Are parenting therapies right for me?

Do have difficulty getting your child to obey your commands? Is getting ready to leave the house a struggle every morning? Are bedtime routines problematic? Does the teacher complain that your child does not follow directions in class and/or bothers the other children? Does your child engage in annoying behavior that you wish s/he could control? Have you tried sticker charts or other similar methods and they just don’t work? Do you feel like you have to ask your child over and over to do something? Do you wish your child could just do as s/he was told? Have you often wondered how you can help your child gain better self-control and/or listening skills?

Children can sometimes get into negative behavior cycles that are difficult to break. Parents, teachers, siblings, and other important people can be part of those cycles. Learn ways to better help your child manage his or her behavior and be on the road to a happier, more peaceful household.

Your therapist will help you decide whether traditional parent training, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, or some combination of these is the best fit for your family’s needs.
