Specialty Social Skills Groups

Sports Social Dynamics Group

Whether your child needs to work on sportsmanship or the physical sports skills themselves, this group does it all. In partnership with Coach Mike from our very own Friendship Island, we will work on common recess games and sports while teaching children how to handle emotions in a healthy way, helping them become a better athlete and team member. Using Social Thinking’s team of UnthinkaBots as a framework, we will help your child learn to defeat, for example, the influence of Glassman with her overreactions, WorryWall with his confidence-eroding taunts, and Destroyer of Fun who encourages bad sportsmanship. Prepare your child to win–both on and off the field!

Currently Saturdays 1-2pm, ages 7-11. Note: Sessions held in Rancho Park.

Fantasy Role Playing Game Group (ages 10-13 & 14-18)

Fantasy Role Playing Games are collaborative and open-ended adventures where players must leverage the talents of their party’s unique characters–and the kids controlling them!–to overcome fantastical danger and win treasure and renown. Players chart the course of their adventure in cooperation with and in opposition to the campaign master, who wears many hats: storyteller, antagonist, calculator, and in this case, therapist. With customized game rules to leverage even greater therapeutic benefit, this group promotes cooperation, communication, and perspective-taking against the backdrop of role-playing, fantasy, and storytelling.

The age 14-18 group meets Mondays from 6-7 pm, and the age 10-13 group meets Thursdays from 5:10-6:10 pm.
